Description:
As the Movement for Black Lives has grown, so has government surveillance of Black Lives Matter organizers. Journalists have reported on Homeland Security tracking protesters at rallies and regional fusion centers that monitor their social media activity. Now, Color of Change and the Center for Constitutional Rights are demanding that the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI release documentation of surveillance targeting the Movement for Black Lives.

This week, we broadcast Part 2 of COINTELPRO 101, a documentary film that looks at COINTELPRO, the secret FBI project that infiltrated and disrupted domestic organizations thought to be subversive . The program targeted many African American, Native American, and other movements for self-determination by people of color in the U.S. Between 1956 and 1971, the FBI conducted more than 2,000 COINTELPRO (Counter Intelligence Program) operations.

Special thanks to The Freedom Archives, the organization that produced this film.
