From OutCasting, public radio's LGBTQ youth program (http://outcastingmedia.org):

In this second part of a three part series, we continue our exploration of the anti-LGBTQ backlash against the US
Supreme Court's 2015 case of Ogerbefell vs. Hodges, which struck down all of the remaining state bans on same sex marriage, making marriage equality the law of the land. Since the case was announced just over a year ago, things haven't suddenly gotten wonderful for LGBTQ people.

Our guest on this series is the author, journalist, and LGBTQ activist Michelangelo Signorile (pronounced "Senior-elly"). He s the host of the Michelangelo Signorile Show, a daily talk show on Sirius-XM Progress 127. He s the Editor-at-Large of Huffington Post Queer Voices. His most recent book is It s Not Over: Getting Beyond Tolerance, Defeating Homophobia, and Winning True Equality.

This OutCasting series examines various aspects of the anti-LGBTQ backlash: violence against LGBTQ people is up, hundreds of discriminatory laws are being introduced and often passed, government officials refuse to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, businesses refuse to serve them -- and all of this is sending a terrible message to LGBTQ youth, who are already at greatly heightened risk of suicide and other self-destructive behaviors.

In Part 2, we look at a few of the the hundreds of anti-LGBTQ laws that have recently been proposed or enacted as a reaction to the victory on marriage equality, every one of which is a reason that LGBTQ people must continue the fight to protect the rights we have won.

Part 1 aired two weeks ago; Part 3 is scheduled to run on Sprouts during the week starting August 24. The entire series is available at http://outcastingmedia.org.
