Summary: Featured speakers/guests:
A good deal of the music on this week's KPB was recorded in, or has roots in, the 1960's. The actual 60's recordings are by the Fifth Dimension, the Animals, and jazz singer Nancy Wilson. The British-American singer Nellie McKay covers two 1960s pop songs in recordings done in 2009, and the contemporary blues/rock group, The Alabama Shakes, shows its indebtedness to sounds from the 60's. Other music comes from the 1970s, by the group America and by Scottish singer/songwriter Al Stewart. Bluegrass singer/songwriter Peter Rowan makes a contribution, and finally there's more jazz from the Dutch group The Rosenberg Trio and from pianist Vince Guaraldi.   Larry Kensington
