Summary: Featured speakers/guests:
In Kansas, the saga of the wildly close primary election for the GOP gubernatorial nomination continues between oft-disgraced Sec. of State Kris Kobach and current Gov. Jeff Colyer. It grows more acrimonious by the hour, with Colyer charging Kobach with giving counties advice that is "inconsistent with Kansas law," and alleging that voters were "turned away" and had trouble finding Colyer's name on the ballot (which could be the result of new ES&S touchscreen voting machines used in several counties). A recount and litigation may lie ahead, which may be good news for Kansas Democrats. More troubling information has emerged regarding the Trump EPA's decision to bring asbestos back, including a Russian company " the worlds largest supplier of asbestos-- stamping Donald Trump's face on their packaging! Los Angeles Times Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist Michael Hiltzik explores the real story behind Trumps recent misinformed tweets regarding Californias record wildfires, and the bizarre suggestion that the out-of-control blazes are due to "bad environmental laws" and mismanagement of the state's water system. None of those things are actually anywhere close to the truth. Trump's misinformed claims appear to be part of a ploy by the Interior and Commerce Departments to exploit the fires as a pretext for gutting the Endangered Species Act and stripping away the state's control of its water system. Good news: in North Carolina, a federal court has blocked purging voters from the rolls without notice or in the 90 days before an election. A jury has awarded $290 million in damages against Monsanto to a school groundskeeper with terminal cancer, who was harmed by the toxic weed killer RoundUp. Plus late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel has a clever idea to convince Trump to give a damn about our worsening climate crisis...  Brad Friedman, Michael Hiltzik, Desi Doyen
