No doubt, BP, Transocean, and Halliburton are to blame. But could the Government have stopped them? Mark Levine takes the reins to explore the cesspool of corruption that was the Minerals Management Service, the Government Regulatory Agency that was supposed to oversee offshore oil drilling. The employees of the MMS under the Bush Administration not only were taking bribes, gifts, job offers, and flights on private jets to Bowl games, they were on drugs and in bed with the oil companies. (Literally! They were on crystal meth and having sex with oil company employees!) Why couldn't President Obama clean it up fast enough? What regulation should be in place for offshore drilling? Or should we end the drilling entirely?
