In this week's Sprouts, we visit several places and people in out-state Missouri who offer something completely unique in America. First, we visit the tiny community of Edgar Springs, who have been labeled the geographic center of the United States population since the last census in 2000, and will be losing that title in early 2011. The town's Mayor, Kurt Ross, and Alderwoman Carol Dunham discuss their thoughts.
We head to St. James, MO for the remainder of the program. We continue the program by visiting Alan Sachs at his company, Hi-Striker, one of only two American manufacturers of the popular carnival game. Here we get the details on how to nail the bell every time, plus insights into what makes a person get into the carnival game business.
Finally, we stop by the historical vacuum cleaner museum at the Tacony corporation, and spend some time with one of the nation's vacuum experts, museum curator Tom Gasko. This segment of Sprouts truly "sucks", and is loaded with weird and fascinating facts about vacuums you never knew about.
