The year is 1989. The United States just experienced one of the great shifts to the political Right under the guidance of the Ronald Reagan 2 term Presidency. 5 of the great investigative journalist of the day got together for a series of events called The Art of Muckraking.

Pacifica Radio was there to record one of these landmark moments that were unavailable to the average American at best learned of news from Mainstream Media.

Christopher Hitchens is one of the great literary and incisive political analysts of our day speaks to the outright attack on the U. S. Constitution during the Ronald Reagan Presidency.

Mark Hertsgaard, author of the 1988 book On Bended Knee, spoke of the media's role in securing the Reagan's monikers "Teflon President" and "The Great Communicator".

Jessica Mitford or Decca, became world renowned for uncovering the corruption in the Mortuary business in the early 1960'sin a book called The American Way of Death. at this forum she speaks to Censorship in the meida as a result of efforts by The Religious Right and the Moral Majority.

Robert Scheer spends his allotted time defending the his then employer The Los Angeles Times and their coverage of the 1988 Presidential election and their coverage of The Iran Contra Hearings. But he also concedes that the Average American would not get important journalistic efforts from mainstream media and must go to other sources like Pacifica for their information
