In the piece I created on ACT UP I used one successful campaign from the early days of ACT UP to discuss methods of operations then fast forwarded to the last 10 years which have been focused on international issues and domestic funding issues. I use quotes from several africans, and a few activists of color along with white activists.
Intro:
Up next Out-FM collective member and 20 year veteran of ACT UP/NY reflects on the movement's history as he looks at past accomplishments and current campaigns. ACT UP held a large march on Wall St beginning at City Hall to protest cuts to domestic AIDS programs and broken promises with funding for international committments on AIDS.
Outro:
That was John Riley reflecting on the 25 year history of ACT UP/NY with an emphasis on its Robin Hood tax campaign. For more information go to actupny.com
