Today on Sprouts we hear from Earth First activist Darry Cherney, who was car-bombed with organizer Judi Bari in 1990 during a campaign to stop old growth logging in northern california. Darryl recently made a dcumentary about the attempted assassination called, Who Bombed Judi Bari? The bomber remains at large more than 20 years later.
But in the eyes of the FBI, both Darryl Cherney and Judi Bari were the main suspects in their bombing. The film, Who Bombed Judi Bari chornicles how the FBI attempted to discredit the activists and pin the bombing on them as radical terrorists, rather than find the real assassin. It also chronicles the successful law suit against the FBI, for violating their constitutional, rights and the environmental movement Juid Bari inspired. We began our conversation when I asked Darry to describe the attempted assiassination aginst him and Judi Bari.
Sprouts is a weekly program that features local radio production and stories from many radio stations and local media groups around the world. It is produced in collaboration with community radio stations and independent producers across the country.
