American Eagle Foundation
Al Cecere is a man who faithfully believes that God has called him to perform the very important work of restoring the American Bald Eagle. Armed with a solid resume in the entertainment industry and a long held passion for the welfare of animals, Al founded the American Eagle Foundation in 1985 and as the organization grew, he was able to convince many of his music industry contacts to help him bring greater visibility to the Foundation's mission of fully restoring the USA's national symbol to America's lands and skies and to "build a nest egg" for their future protection.
In this hour Angela McKenzie meets up with Cecere and the Foundation's celebrity bald eagle Challenger who were visiting New York City for television and other public appearances. Challenger made his debut as a celebrity raptor in 1996 at the Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia; after the tragic events of September 11th 2001, the late George Steinbrenner invited Challenger to inspire baseball fans at New York Yankees home games and in between all of that, Challenger and Al have brushed shoulders with Presidents of the United States and countless other luminaries. Today's show is a nice balance of information and entertainment and listeners will even be able to hear a few words from Challenger too.
