NOTE: While this show is still appropriate for any season, in the youth segment, the third grade guest shares a story she wrote about Christmas.
In this episode, host, Pearl Stark, reads excerpts from the novel, "The Tale of Brownie Beaver" by Arthur Scott Bailey. Bailey wrote a series of books about different animals to introduce children to natural history. Although only a few chapters of the book are read, the episode is meant to stand alone. Listeners are encouraged to check the book out from their local library to read more.
This week's puzzle is a logic riddle about names.
In the youth segment we hear from a third grader with a disability. She is not able to communicate through speech. Through recent technology advancements she has an iPad that speaks for her. She is able to program in what she would like to say and then select audio clips to play. She "reads" a christmas story that she wrote and then answers questions about the process. |
