Martha Sanchez-Lowery was born in La Paz, Bolivia and lives in Alexandria, Virgina. Her poem "The Dark Earth Call" was set to dance by Jane Franklin Dance Company as part of the program Dancing the Page. Her poetry has appeared in Beltway, Hispanic Culture Review, and Poets Against the War, and appears in the anthologies At the Foot of the White House (Al Pie de La Casa Blanca), Winners: An Anthology, and Cabin Fever Her chapbook Bocanegra was published by Mica Press. She served as poetry editor for Minimus, an annual literary journal, and was Director of the Word Works Washington Prize for many years. She was Executive Producer for the Poetry Alive at IOTA " 20th Anniversary CD released in September 2015 and is in the process of translating the Collected Works of Maria Quiroga Vargas, one of Bolivia s foremost poets.
